Worship & Fine
Arts Ministry
All
of us in the Worship & Fine Arts ministry share a common goal: Our purpose as a worship team is to bring God glory and serve the Church by -- demonstrating and facilitating - a lifestyle -- of authentic -- passionate - Christ centered worship -- appealing to both - believers - and seekers - presented with the highest possible excellence.
What is our Philosophy of Worship?
- We believe we are created for God's pleasure and in His presence we find the highest experience of joy. We believe God promises and is happy to join in whenever two or more believers gather to worship and honor Him.
- We believe worship should be a daily occurrence in the life of a growing believer and that corporate worship is intended to be a supplement, not a substitute for it.
- We believe the Bible encourages expressive forms of worship such as: acts of love, acts of service, prayer, singing, playing of instruments, silence, kneeling, hand raising, dancing, clapping, meditation, tithing, offerings, and shouting. We believe that these, and other expressions, found in the Old and New Testaments are valid acts of worship. Depending on the purpose of service we may encourage or utilize any or all these expressions.
- We believe worship should be God-centered, not man focused, thus we discourage worship expressions that draw UNDO attention to individuals, particularly in Saturday night and Sunday morning services. We do, however, encourage more intimate and abandoned forms of worship in personal worship, on church retreats, during prayer meetings, believer driven small group meetings and in certain meetings called for the express purpose of worship.
- We believer all styles of music are valid for worship, we also believe each church develops a "worship personality" that best represents its leaders and the majority of the congregation. Pine Knolls' style tends to be contemporary, encompassing both energetic and intimate styles of praise and worship. We sometimes use traditional hymns, but usually rework their presentation to reflect our 21st century audience.
- We believe that using music in worship is both helpful and biblical. We do not, however, believe that music in and of itself constitutes worship. We remember that worship is about our relationship with God and about glorifying Him.
- We believe the congregation and worship team stand equal before the throne of God in worship and that all parts of the Body and ministries of Pine Knolls are given the same value in Christ. We believe worship team members are set apart for specific service in the church and though they are more visible they are not more valueable.
What are our Core Values?
- Authentic personal worship: Glorifying God is a lifestyle for us. We seek to worship both privately and publicly with a pure heart and a clear conscience.
- Current, growing relationship with Christ: We have experienced and confess a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and believe that our only salvation is through Him. We seek to walk with God through daily Bible reading, prayer and journaling. Time alone with God is a high, personal priority.
- Love: We celebrate, appreciate and show patience for the variety of personalities, backgrounds and uniueness' of all team members.
- Servants' heart: With Christ as our model, we willingly choose to see our role as service.
- Transparency: We seek to share our victories and defeats with one another and are willing to confess sin or be confronted by a leader or team member if necessary.
- Faithfulness: In order to maintain and develop further a cohesive, focused team we ask that the worship ministry take priority over other Pine Knolls groups, teams or events you might participate in. Worship Team time commitments can sometimes be heavy.
- Excellence: Our definition - doing the very best with what you have - maintaining and increasing your skill level, arriving on weekends and to rehearsals spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and physically prepared to serve.
- Team Building/Unity: We culitvate a Team Spirit, seek the team's best, avoiding gossip, purpose to quickly resolve differences or conflicts with - team leader, fellow team members, Pine Knolls staff, and other member knowing disunity grieves the Holy Spirit and hurst the church.
- Contemporary, stylish modesty, good grooming: We shoot for a sporty/casual look, not distracting or causing anyone to stumble.
- Respect Sprititual Authority: We honor our spiritual leaders. We live and minister under biblical submission to spiritual authority.
- We also respect sanctuary guidelines: As leaders, our ability to demonstrate that we can follow these guidelines paints a picture that we have humble attitudes and are subject to follow the same guidelines as everyone else.
- Enthusiasm - can do spiritu: We seek to keep "real" and passionate engaging worship expression as we lead worship. We realize that we lead (or distract) with our face, voice and body language.
- Communication: We don't let the sun go down on our anger, keep short accounts when offended, keep leaders informed of needs/changes at home, work, health, motivation, spiritual life PRAISE OTHERS OFTEN.
- Punctuality: We know that being late affects the entire schedule of a rehearsal or worship preparation and ask that the team leader be notified is you know you will be later than 15 minutes.
- Evaluation: We encourage and are willing to receive constructive comments from others about our ministry effectiveness. We are willing to improve vocal, visual or instrumental communication.
- Humility: After loving God and others, this may be the highest value in the kingdom:I am first a SERVANT of the Living God. I am a part of the Body of Christ, but only a part.
We love to worship.
